Tjänstetandläkarna, the Swedish association of employed dentists
We stand up for dentists
so they can deliver the very best care
for their patients
Tjänstetandläkarna is the trade union of Swedish dentists employed within the public and private sectors.
Our main purpose is to monitor our members' working conditions and to promote their interests. We are owned and run by our members, and all our income is reinvested to benefit the profession. We believe that together, we can achieve more than we could individually.
More then 3800 dentists are associated with the organization.
Tjänstetandläkarna represents the members and promotes their interests in different areas, such as:
- in matters related to dentists working conditions
- in contract and negotiation issues
- by advising and assisting members in matters concerning their employment
As a member, the membership strengthens the status of employees within dentistry and offers members to be a part of a national collegial network.

About us
Tjänstetandläkarna was established in 1990 when the Swedish Dental Association (SDA) was reorganized. The department that supported members in labor law issues, the section monitoring branch issues, the odontological teachers, and the student association was separated and became autonomous associations within the SDA.
Today Tjänstetandläkarna negotiates on the behalf of our members with employers and authorities, monitoring and agrees on collective agreement along with observing workplace safety.
The cooperation between Tjänstetandläkarna and the SDA is still very intimate, and all members within Tjänstetandläkarna are also members within the SDA.
Through the SDA Tjänstetandläkarna is connected to Saco and its negotiation
organizations.
Tjänstetandläkarna consists of 23 local sections, also the association's workplace organizations, who work with collaboration issues with the employer and negotiate for individual members employed by that employer.
As an nonprofit organization, the democratic process is fundamental for Tjänstetandläkarna. All members can raise topics for discussion through the local sections, which also decide on the business plan. The annual meeting establishes our mission, and the activities are executed by the local sections, the board, and the registry office.
